Statement by Cyprus Hotel Managers Association (PASYDIXE)
In the current tourism environment, we address all partners across the sector in a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility.
The situation we are navigating affects the entire ecosystem—hotels, tour operators, airlines, travel agencies, car hire, restaurants and of course Tourism Boards and government depts alike.
The challenges are common, and so is the need to approach them with balance and understanding.
At this stage, it is important to keep a steady, long-term view. Our partnerships have been built over many years and remain the foundation for moving forward in a constructive way.
We encourage close and ongoing communication between all sides. Sharing real data, exchanging views, and discussing practical options will help us respond more effectively and with greater clarity.
It is apparent as we have been speaking with various partners in our sector that we are all aligned with our objectives, but not all partners are informed to the same extent. At times of crisis information sharing is crucial to achieving our objectives.
We have a new opportunity today as the negotiated ceasefire begins for 2 weeks, we hope that it will be maintained and form the basis of a lasting solution so normality can return to the region and especially our destination. We should prepare and reinforce our position, so we are ready to reap the benefit when the situation is resolved, there will be a large and immediate return of bookings to the island. At the same time, practices that take advantage of the situation or place disproportionate pressure on one side of the partnership should have no place in our approach. Fairness and professional integrity remain essential, especially as we rebound from the crisis.
Above all, this is a time to work together—with mutual respect and a clear sense that we are part of the same journey.
We move forward as partners.
Best regards,
Nick Aristou
