Package of social responsibility actions for local support and environmental restoration
The Cyprus Hotel Managers Association (PASYDIXE), as part of its corporate social responsibility activities, announces a series of initiatives aimed at supporting the areas affected by the devastating wildfires. These actions aim to strengthen the local economy, restore productive activity, and achieve gradual environmental recovery.
The proposed actions include:
Engagement with tour operators to encourage initiatives and projects within the framework of their corporate social responsibility programs in support of the affected areas.
Support for voluntary work activities by hotels, in cooperation with community councils, for small-scale practical interventions.
Promotion and showcasing of local products from the fire-stricken areas within hotels, supporting producers and adding value to visitors’ experiences.
An information campaign aimed at tourists, encouraging visits to the affected areas in the spirit of meaningful support and discovering the “real Cyprus.”
Active participation of the Board of Directors and the district committees in tree planting and environmental restoration activities, in cooperation with the Department of Forests and local authorities.
Staff excursions to the affected areas after the end of the tourist season, aimed at supporting local businesses, producers, and dining establishments.
In addition, the PASYDIXE Board of Directors will hold its next meeting in a community within a fire-affected area, with the aim of assessing needs in person and shaping targeted interventions.
PASYDIXE’s actions form part of a broader framework of social responsibility, focusing on people, the environment, and local development. Tourism can and must be a key supporter in the reconstruction of the country.
